چکیده

Evidence is reviewed that indicates that an immune deficiency state may underlie patients with immune complex nephritis. Studies in several laboratories provide data that show defective immune function in patients with nephritis at the following loci: defective immunoglobulin production, impaired monocyte Fc and C3b receptor function, diminished complement biosynthesis, and decreased mesangial cell colonystimulating factor-i biosynthesis. Aberrant monocyte function may be an important common denominator. The validation of this hypothesis has important implications for therapeutic strategies.

A Review of The Role of The Microbiome on Immune Responses and Its Association With Cystic Fibrosis

In recent years, the microbiome has been recognized as a key regulator of immune responses. Evidence suggests that changes in the microbiome can lead to chronic disease and even exacerbation of the disease. Impairment of innate immunity resulting from microbial incompatibility may worsen host susceptibility to infection and exacerbate chronic lung diseases. Specific microbes play a key role in ...

Arginase Activity and Its Effects on Pathogenesis of Leishmania

Leishmaniasis is a tropical parasitic disease that has become a major health challenge in many countries of the world. Not only has not been found any effective vaccine or treatment for the disease eradication, but also the advent of drug resistance is also increasing. Therefore, it is vital to take a precise attention to the physiochemical cycles of the Leishmania parasite and to identify i...

IVIG Anaphylaxis in a patient with Common variable immune deficiency disease (CVID).

Common variable immune deficiency disease (CVID) is one of the most common primary immunodeficiency disorders. It causes reduction of immunoglobulin levels and specific antibodies production and enhancement of recurrent and chronic infections risk, especially respiratory infections and gastrointestinal tracts. Here, we report a case of CVID in a 3 years old male with recurrent hospitalizations ...

Loss of T-bet Sends Host-Microbe Mutualism Awry

Immune homeostasis in the intestine involves complex interactions between microbial organisms and host cells. In this issue, Garrett et al. (2007) describe a communicable form of colitis that is induced by deficiency of the transcription factor T-bet in cells of the innate immune system.

Disseminated Nocardiosis in an Immunocompromised Child with Unknown Cause

Disseminated nocardiosis (DN), is an infrequent and severe infection due to Nocardia species and defined as infection in two or more discontinuous organs.  Most infections occur in the immunocompromised host or in persons with underlying disease.  DN occurs rarely in children.  In this report, we describe an 11-year-old immune-compromised child with nocardiosis involving the lung, skin, brain a...
